To submit an article to JELL, authors must adhere to the following guidelines:
Articles should be approximately 7,000~8,000 words in length, including the Abstract, Keywords, footnotes, Additional Information, and Works Cited.
A separate cover page must be provided and should include:
• The title of the article
• full names, affiliations (and positions), and email addresses of all authors;
• identification of the corresponding author;
• Abstract and Keywords;
• ORCID identifiers and funding information, where applicable;
• total word count of the manuscript.
The title should be presented in bold and in title case (major words capitalized).
The cover page and the manuscript must include:
• a one-paragraph abstract (of 250 words) and 5 keywords in English.
The abstract should summarize the research question, materials or data, and principal findings, and should not replicate sentences from the main text.
Keywords should reflect the content of the article and be listed in alphabetical order and separated by commas. Please use lowercase except for proper nouns.
The first page of the manuscript should contain only the title, abstract, and keywords. Author names and identifying information must NOT appear in the manuscript file to ensure anonymous peer review.
Manuscripts must conform to the latest MLA style. This includes formatting for:
• Interview
• Data availability statements
• Generative AI disclosures
• Figures and tables
• In-text citations and footnotes
• Works Cited
Authors must follow the most recent edition of the MLA Handbook in preparing their Works Cited list.
